Today marks the one year anniversary we lost my Dad. It's been a tough day. I miss him everyday but some days are harder than others. One of my friends I spent time with today made a comment about what an amazing Dad he was and I couldn't have agreed more.

He would get such a kick out of Hailey now and what a personality she has. He'd love hearing about all the sports Ben is doing so well in and how much fun he's having. He'd be so proud of Monica and how well she's been handling this year and the strength she's shown. He'd be so excited by the career choices Drew has taken and the decisions he's making in his life.

I miss him calling me up and saying "Stezzie - whatcha doing? How's my grandboy and girl?" It's hard to believe I've lived a year of my life without him. I miss him terribly! But I will continue to celebrate the amazing Dad and man he was - I hope you will too!

As the holidays and Michael's birthday approach, I wanted to acknowledge what a difficult time this must be for his family. As close friend of Steph's, I know that her dad's memory stays with her daily and she misses him tremendously. I know the loss is so deep and painful still, but hope that, in time, the pain will lessen and you'll be left with the indelible imprint of love and a lifetime of memories Mike has left with you. You are in my thoughts now during this especially difficult holiday season. With love, Tara Clark

Hi to the Kessler family...

I was so honored to take care of Michael over his last days and weeks. Always a man of strength he maintained that till the last and did things his way!

I am also glad he was able to pass peacefully into the arms of the Lord at home surrounded by those who loved him.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, May the Lord shine his light on you and give you peace..
Love, Linda

I received the notice that Mike had passed away from Gator soccer Email. I was Captain of the Gators the year prior to Mike. Like Coach Al Moore I remember Mike being a friend to everyone. On the field, Mike always gave the maximum, and never backed away from a challenge. After reading the guest book, it appears he continued to live the same way. Best wishes to his family.

Although we did not know Mike as well as most, what I will always remember about him is how positive Mike was about everything. He had a positive attitude about life and every situation life handed him, but most of all he was positive about his God. The last time I spoke to Mike he told me he was positive God would be next to him, guiding and helping him along his journery....and so he was.

God bless you Monica, Stephenie and Drew.

Love,
Judy and Lew Lomas

To Monica, Drew and Stephanie-

It was with great pain that I could not be with you on Thursday as you truly celebrated an AMAZING man. Whether he was your husband or father, I want all of you to know that what I saw as a person on the outside was a man of courage, character; a devoted Christian, friend and most of all a person that so many should strive to be like. I meant every word I said in my card to Michael and I am so very thankful that he was able to hear exactly how I felt about him. The beauty is that I am certain I am not the only person who saw Michael for who he truly is….I think that has been evident with all of the outpouring of support to each and every one of you.

It amazes me that Michael came into my life when I was 12 years old as my soccer coach. He and I laughed later in life at all of the weird things young girls do and the fair share of hassles we gave him. Nonetheless, the good Lord put him there for a reason. We lost touch over the years only to have him brought back to me via his wonderful wife, Monica as she came to be a teammate of mine on the AAHS administrative team. What a blessing to be able to have contact back with him as well as Monica because we all know what special people they are.

I know that Michael (dad) is smiling down on all of us from either the top of that mountain he just climbed, or the ride her just took on his bike, or even the snow shoe trip or ski slope he just conquered, he did it all pain free!

My heart will always be missing a special person in it but just as someone else said, his legacy with live on forever. So for now, it will not be goodbye, but yet, I will be seeing you.....

With love and respect,

Diane Shuck
